Looking for the best places to visit in the Hague isn’t a big deal, especially if you have Ask the Dutch Guy to guide you along the way. If you only have two days to spend here, trust me, that’s enough to see some of the best places in the city.
The Hague is walkable within the city center, but you can always take the public transit to get around and the best itinerary to make the most out of your trip.
Day One
On your first day in The Hague, take the time to visit the historical buildings in the city. Immerse yourself in their culture and its natural beauty through its beautiful parks.
Binnenhof
The Binnenhof, which is the Inner Court, is the center of politics in the country. All political affairs of the state are discussed here, which makes a very vital structure.
On your first day, the Binnenhof is hard to miss because it’s located in the center of the city. Here, you can take a few snaps and even go inside to see what it looks like.
Ridderzaal
Now, walk at the east end of the central courtyard of the Binnenhof to get to the Knight’s Hall (Ridderzaal). This beautiful historic building features stained-glass windows that depict the coats of arms of Dutch Towns.
Have Lunch
You’re probably tired with all the walking, so it’s time to have lunch. Since you’re already around the city center, try Dekxels. The menu is adventurous, with a combination of European and Asian fusion dishes.
The Peace Palace
After lunch, head to the Peace Palace, which is home to the International Court of Justice, the Permanent Court of Arbitration, the Academy of International Law, and a library of international law.
It has a beautiful interior design that comes from various countries—such as its marble, which came all the way from Italy and wood paneling from the USA and Brazil.
Landgoed Clingendael
Walk around the beautiful gardens that surround the house at Landgoed Clingendael. The park is free to the public, and it’s perfect for kids, too. It features a huge playground, a picnic area, and a tearoom.
There is also a Japanese Garden here, which is the most impressive part of the area.
Grab Dinner And Drinks
See the beautiful city from the top at The Penthouse. The restaurant occupied the 42nd floor of The Hague Tower. Here you can enjoy refined modern Dutch dishes and they serve drinks as well; perfect to end day one on top of the city!
Day Two
What better way to end your tour of The Hague but at the beach. Be prepared to spend your second full day here. There are a lot of things you can do here.
Sheveningen
When you’re in The Hague, you should not miss the beach. As mentioned, this is only the major city in the country that has a beach. So make sure you spend your last full day here.
There are many things to do here aside from swimming—check out the SkyView de Pier, a Ferris-wheel style observation wheel. If you have kids with you, don’t miss the Sea Life, which is an aquarium that features various marine life creatures.
