If you got one day in Hague, you better not miss this travel guide!

The Hague (Den Haag) is the International City of Peace and Justice. However, there’s more to The Hague than that! The city is filled with beautiful masterpieces by famous artists and of course, this is where you can visit the country’s seaside resort.

Here, we have listed some of the best things you can do here for your one day in The Hague!

Visit The Mauritshuis

On your first day in The Hague, it’s best to visit the famous art museum, The Mauritshuis, which holds masterpieces of Dutch painters Johannes Vermeer, Frans Hal, Jan Steen, and many more. Don’t miss the Girl with a Pearl Earring by Vermeer while you’re here! Expect to spend at least one to two hours here as the museum is pretty small. If you’re going on a Monday, keep in mind that it opens at 1:00 pm on this day, so you might want to adjust your itinerary a little bit.

See The Binnenhof

You won’t be able to say you have been to The Hague if you haven’t seen the Binnenhof. This is the oldest House of Parliament that is still operational in the whole world.

In fact, this is also where the Dutch Prime Minister still holds office. Walk through the old gate, take photos in the inner courtyard, and see the Knight Hall.

Shop & Have Lunch At The Centre

At around noon, it’s time to grab lunch, and the best place to do this is by going to The Hague centre where you can also shop. There are various restaurants here that offer various dishes. When doing some shopping, there are plenty of locally-owned shops here that you can visit to get some unique stuff you can take home with you.

You will also see the Sint Jacobs Grote Kerk while you’re here. If you’re up for it, you can climb the Church tower to see the city’s beautiful views; you can see as far as Scheveningen!

Walk Around The Palace Gardens

Time to burn those calories and get re-energized—walk through the city’s Palace Gardens which is right next to a cafe. You might want to bring coffee with you while you walk here. From the park, you will see views of the Royal Palace and the Royal Stables.

Spend Your Time At The Beach

If the weather is nice, you can spend your afternoon at Scheveningen, which is the seaside resort in the country.

You can walk on the pier, even ride the Ferris wheel while you’re here, and this is where you can also have your dinner. This is an excellent place to end your one day in The Hague!
