The warm season in Amsterdam is from June through September with an average daily temperature above 65-degrees F. On the other hand, the cool season is from November through March, with an average temperature below 48-degrees F. 

What To Wear in Amsterdam

When it comes to packing for the city, you need to plan for the worst! If you are going to the city to strut your stuff and want to have really good photos for the ‘gram, then you should know that the Dutch are very fashionable. However, compared to other Europeans, they have a more casual style. 

If you’re going here for the fall and you want to blend in, stick to light and stylish outfits—think jacket, booties, and a shirt. In the summer, you’ll find a lot of women in dresses but with layers.

For food, you can expect to pay at around $20 to $200 per day, depending on where you’ll eat. As for transportation, the average cost will be between $9 and $25. 

Of course, Amsterdam won’t be complete without seeing the attractions. There are various attractions you can see in the city, and it will cost you between $10 and $150. 

How To Get Around Amsterdam

Keep in mind that all public transportation in the city uses a OV-chipkaart. If you plan to use public transport throughout the duration of your stay, you can use passes that are valid from one to seven days priced at €8-36.50. You can get the tickets from ticket sellers, GVB outlets, kiosks, and tourist offices. Keep in mind that you can’t buy a ticket with cash. 

The I Amsterdam City Card, on the other hand, can give you unlimited access to local public transportation. The card is also combined with free entry to many attractions in the city. However, they’re more expensive, which the price starts at €60 for one day. 

Experience Amsterdam on wheels by hopping on a bike instead. The city is one of the best cycling cities in the world. So, if you want the full Amsterdam experience, rent a bike. Bike rentals start at €10 per day.

There are taxis and Ubers as well here. Of course, they will be more expensive compared to other modes of transportation in the city.

Where to Stay in Amsterdam

What To Do in Amsterdam

There are a lot of things to do in Amsterdam. The city is filled with so many historical places to visit. Of course, the museums are something you shouldn’t miss. For one, check out the Amsterdam History Museum to get to know the history of the city.

Make sure you allow three to four hours to this if you really want to go through every single detail in the museum. 

The Netherlands is famous for its tulips, and in Amsterdam, you can see a Tulip Museum inside a tulip shop. While you’re here, make sure you check out the Jewish History museum, which is often overlooked for the Anne Frank House

When you’re done with the museums, head on to a fantastic park in Oost, where there is also a zoo, which is perfect if you have kids in tow, the area is an underrated part of the city, which is why you should definitely check it out. 

Do a bit of shopping at the Waterlooplein Flea Market where you’ll get great finds. You can also go on a food tour or a walking tour of the city. Of course, the boat tour is definitely a must!
